“MFA’s Other Services” is defined as any of our other websites, including but not limited to www.mercyforanimals.org and all other MFA-owned or MFA-managed web domains or mobile applications; our online store; our social media platforms; messaging services used for communicating with us; multichannel advocacy tools; and our online and offline donor platforms.

This Policy is incorporated by reference into, is a part of, and should be read in conjunction with, the MFA Global Licensing Website Terms of Use. This Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose to third-parties, and protect information from or about Users. By being a User, you agree to our collection, use, disclosure, and transfer of your information as described in this Policy and to the terms here. This Site permits you to download multimedia content and our systems will automatically gather information about each download. This information may include unique identification features associated with your username, unique identification features associated with the content you have downloaded (the multimedia file’s URL, its record number, and the file’s identification features associated with storage database(s), for example), and the date and time of your account creation, logins, and each download.

Our legal basis for processing

We generally process your information on the basis that it is in our legitimate interests to control and track access to the multimedia content accessed via the Site and this legitimate interest is not outweighed by your fundamental rights and freedoms.

MFA may also rely on third-parties to help provide you with secure and smooth use of this Site’s services. Some third-parties may be located outside of the United States. MFA generally requires third-parties with whom it works toward protecting your information to maintain the same level of privacy and security over your information as MFA does. 

Please keep in mind, however, that no data transmitted over the internet is 100 percent secure, and any information disclosed online can potentially be collected and used by parties other than the intended recipient.

How is my information retained?

We retain information for different periods of time depending on the purposes for which we collect and use it, as described in this Policy. Because this Site will require you to log-in and will associate your login information with your activities on this Site, MFA may retain the collected information, discussed in Section 2, indefinitely, to help provide you with secure and smooth use of this Site’s services, according to applicable MFA data retention policies. 

We will delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed to fulfill the original purpose for processing, unless a longer retention period is required to comply with applicable laws. There may be relevant legal, technical, financial, or regulatory retention requirements or other operational reasons where we are unable to fully delete or de-identify your information. Where this is the case, we will take lawful measures to prevent further processing your information.

This Site resides on WP Engine. WP Engine hosts the databases on which User information, which MFA collects both directly and indirectly, may be stored.
